Fight At Birthday Party Leads To Shooting In South Columbus
A man was shot in the arm Thursday night after a fight outside a short-term rental booked for what was supposed to be a five-day-long birthday, police say. Officers say they responded around 10 p.m. to gunshot alerts picked up by ShotSpotter, the city’s gunfire detection system. Police found a residence in the 600 block of Stewart Avenue with multiple bullet holes but did not find any victims or witnesses. Later, officers were notified about a walk-in gunshot victim at Grant Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound to his right arm. The 20-year-old man told investigators that he was at a rental property for what was supposed to be a five-day-long birthday party for two of his female friends, police say.
