Columbus Police Break Up Large Parties At Airbnb Rentals

Police broke up two parties early Sunday morning involving dozens of people at Airbnb rentals, recovering stolen guns at one of the locations. Officers were first called to a residence on the 1200 block of Oakwood Avenue at 12:01 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of a large fight. Once there they found more than 30 people inside and outside of the residence, police say, violating the state’s stay-at-home order. Police say they were able to break up the party, but did not indicate if anyone was charged. At 12:19 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Jackson Street for reports of another large party at an Airbnb. When police arrived, a male met officers outside and said about 60 people were inside the residence. Officers knocked on the door of the residence, but after a person looked out the door, the lights were shut off and blinds were shut, police say. Officers then noticed an upstairs window open and an object fly out into the yard next door. Officers found the object was a loaded handgun.
