Lodging Industry Asks for Level Playing Field as Landlords Offer Vacation Rentals

The increase of short-term vacation rentals illustrates a growing interest among travelers, and
also among landlords with properties in popular vacation communities. The Michigan Tourism
and Lodging Association (MTLA) opposes the state legislation that would remove local control of
short-term rentals, says its president, Deanna Richeson, but from a business standpoint, the
hospitality industry welcomes the competition vacation rentals offer. The proposal to allow the
