State and local governments all across the country are debating ways to regulate short-term rentals, and they need to hear from you. Tell your local elected officials you’re counting on them to close the “illegal hotel loophole.” Here’s how you can make your voice heard by policymakers:
- - Contact the members of your local city council and metropolitan planning commission, and be sure to attend any meetings open to the public where the issue is being discussed.
- - Reach out to members of the mayor’s staff via phone, email, social media and/or letter.
- - Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, citing facts and figures from the materials on our Resources page to support your own personal experience.
- - IMPORTANT: If you’ve encountered an illegal hotel operator, file a complaint with your state attorney general. Most state AG offices have a Consumer Complaint form you can fill out on their website.
